Government Officials want to Relabel Energy Drinks

According to sources, experts at health Canada are thinking that it’s high time energy drinks like Red Bull, Rockster and Monster have their labels changed.
Currently most of these drinks contains messages like “natural health product” or some other nonsense that makes them sound like benign substances that will genuinely improve one’s health. Often times they have labels that contain “medicinal” and “non-medicinal” ingredients, like actual health products do. Even the “suggested daily recommended dose” is reminiscent of vitamin supplements.
However, health experts are thinking that we should drastically relabel these products to “stimulant drug-containing drinks” which, though far more frightening sounding than it was before, isn’t all that innaccurate. As well, they would even like to see the products sold under the supervision of a pharmacist.
The later recommendation seems a little bit unnecessary, but then again I see their point. While energy drinks are not dangerous per se, they can nevertheless lead to some health complications when not enjoyed reponsibly. Studies in the past have shown that despite their claims to contain less caffeine than coffee, they are often loaded with natural ingredients that are high in caffeine along with extra caffeine supplemented. This way their labels are misleading in that they suggest there is less in each can.
The problem here is that they are incredibly accessible. Many teens do not drink coffee, due to the taste, but have no problems going for energy drinks which are loaded in sugar and can give them a good buzz. Drinking too many each day can cause an early dependency that, unless curbed, can lead to future heart conditions.
In fact, many older working people rely a bit too heavily on the drinks, using them to force one’s body to keep going, all the while ignoring the body’s natural signs of saying it’s time to take a break. There’s nothing wrong with pushing yourself sometimes, doing so on a regular basis can really upset one’s system.
